The Prestige
I saw The Prestige this evening. Eh. It was okay. It mostly held my attention, but I didn't really like any of the characters, and my affection for characters is usually what inspires my affection for a film. Seeing Christian Bale really makes me want to watch Newsies, though. And David Bowie makes me want to watch Labyrinth. Woman of discerning tastes? Why, yes, yes I am.
I don't get why people think so much of Scarlett Johanssen. She's pretty but has all the charisma of a very dull paperweight. Piper Perabo is far more engaing.
One of the trailers before the movie was for Apocalypto which looks really interesting, but I don't know that I'm willing to see a Mel Gibson film. He's been on my bad side for a while. Not just because of the antisemitism (although that's a plenty good reason), either. Braveheart has to be one of the most overrated movies in existence. It's okay, but if you want to see the Scottish giving the English whatfor, Rob Roy is a waaaaaay better movie.
And The Passion didn't endear him to me any either. Thought, in all fairness, I didn't actually see that movie, I just dislike it on basic principle.

Mel Gibson's take on religion scares everyone. Except for other scary religious people. And, granted, there are quite a few of them.
